Canada Education

Education in Canada is complex, and is further compounded by the fact that under the Constitution, legislation and regulation, it is the separate responsibility of each province and territory. The federal government has a legitimate interest in the education of Canadians and cooperates with the provinces and territories in various ways to promote shared goals and/or policy objectives. Here we will try to present a broad understanding of how canadian education operates.

Canada Education Policy

The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) was formed in 1967, and is the national voice for education in Canada. CMEC is the mechanism through which ministers consult and act on matters of mutual interest, and the instrument through which they consult and cooperate with national education organizations and the federal government. Canadian education policy is therefore strongly influenced by CMEC. Visit CMEC at www.cmec.ca.
